We invite you to attend presentations of interest, network with other families, view our gallery265 art exhibition and browse our vendor fair of information and services available to you and your family. Our annual FREE event will take place at Arc of Westchester’s Gleeson-Israel Gateway Center, 265 Saw Mill River Road, Hawthorne, NY 10532.
We will be offering six seminars that will address many issues that are of interest and importance to you and your family. We will also hold on ongoing technology session that will share emerging trends in digital literacy projects and gaming applications.

The ABLE Act (Achieving a Better Life Experience Act)
Learn how this new law will create a pathway for a better economic future for people with disabilities. Tax exempt savings accounts can now be set up for maintaining health, independence and quality of life, while protecting eligibility for Medicaid, Supplemental Security Income, and other important federal benefits for people with disabilities.

Opening the door to a future you control. Learn how the self-direction process can allow you to create a more individualized array of services and supports that you can control. Our support broker will guide you through the services you can obtain through self-direction and the benefits of this program.

Learn about “Structured Teacching” tools being implemented at Arc of Westchester to support your child’s transition to employment.

FIDA - I/DD Managed Care Plan
This is a presentation on the new FIDA (Fully Integrated Duals Advantage) managed care plan for people with Intellectual and developmental disabilities who are eligible for both Medicaid and Medicare. Find out about the full range of services available to individuals with I/DD who qualify for this plan.

Holistic Strategies For Relaxation And Healing
Integration of mind/body/spirit has been shown to reduce stress and the physical and emotional effects of stress. Come learn ways to relax, and calm the mind and body...naturally! Learn about mindfulness meditation, aromatherapy, guided imagery, relaxation breathing and other holistic/ integrative modalities for health and wellness.

OPWDD’s Front Door Process
Front Door is a new process for authorizing NYS Office for People With Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD) services. This important seminar is conducted by OPWDD and will fulfill the required 2 hour class. It will guide you with what has changed and what you need to know to become eligible for services.

Technology - Can It Help Me?
This ongoing session will share emerging trends in digital literacy projects available to your family through Arc of Westchester and The Arc of the U.S. It will also explore interesting and helpful gaming applications supported by the Microsoft Store of White Plains.
