April is Autism Awareness Month

Posted on : 04/01/2014

Autism Awareness Month is a time to educate our community about autism. Spreading autism awareness in our communities is a great way to celebrate April and promote inclusion and acceptance in our world for people with autism and other developmental disabilities.

The United Nations General Assembly unanimously declared April 2nd as World Autism Awareness Day to highlight the need to help improve the lives of children and adults who suffer from the disorder so they can lead full and meaningful lives. Pulitzer Prize winning journalist, Ron Suskind, whose story was recently featured in the New York Times, will give the keynote address on April 2nd at The United Nations.  Dr. Jay Adlersberg is moderating the panel sessions from 3 to 6 pm; and the event will be webcast on UN WebTV.
