Real Learning: Tech Blog #2

People with cognitive disabilities often need concrete examples to understand abstract concepts. Take an app like Grocery IQ (FREE-developed by Coupons.com) that helps a person create a shopping list. Its real power comes when that person visits a grocery store with their smartphone or tablet and actually uses the list they made to find and purchase the items. It’s a reinforcing exercise – concepts made real. Money skills, social skills, traveling skills – all can be practiced and rehearsed but it’s only the actual real use that completes the learning circuit.
