NYSARC 2013 Grant Press Release

NYSARC Trust Provides $6,000 Grant to Arc of Westchester Program

HAWTHORNE, NY – December 4, 2013 - The Trustees of the New York State ARC (NYSARC) Trusts provided a $6,000 grant to provide new recreational opportunities for Arc of Westchester program participants.

The Chapter will use this grant to offset expenses of Arc’s 1st Annual Gateway Gala for individuals 18 to 24 held in April. Over 45 young men and women enjoyed a semi-formal dinner buffet and dance. A photo booth was set up and individuals went home with professional portraits of their fun evening. A parquet floor was installed for lively dancing.

The funds from this grant were also used to offset expenses at Arc of Westchester's 26th Annual Spring Ball, a semiformal dinner dance held at the Westchester Marriott Hotel in April for about 450 participants and staff.  Funds were used for two professional photo booths and individuals went home with a framed memento of the night.

We are extremely grateful to NYSARC Trusts for making this possible!

The NYSARC Trusts administer supplemental needs trusts that enable people who have disabilities to remain in their home and community and retain their Medicaid eligible services. The Trustees utilize remainder funds to benefit other persons with disabilities including unfunded Chapter guardianship programs as provided by statute.  In addition to the recreation grant, the Trustees awarded $1,225,500 to support Chapter Guardianship programs.
