NYSARC Trust Grant

NYSARC Trust Provides $10,000 Grant to Arc of Westchester Program

HAWTHORNE, NY – December 15, 2014 - The Trustees of the New York State ARC (NYSARC) Trusts provided a $10,000 grant to provide new recreational opportunities for Arc of Westchester program participants.

The Chapter used this grant to offset expenses of our second annual Gateway Gala held on April 16, 2014.  This semi-formal event included a dinner, music and dancing. Held at our Gleeson-Israel Center in Hawthorne, 50 young men and women danced the night away!  As an added treat, funds were used for a photo booth which gave all our attendees a 5x7 framed photograph of themselves with their friends.

The funds from this grant were also used to offset expenses at Arc of Westchester's 27th Annual Spring Ball, a semiformal dinner dance held at the Westchester Marriott Hotel in April for about 600 participants from Arc of Westchester, other local agencies and staff.  Funds were used for two professional photo booths and individuals went home with a framed memento of the night.

In addition, funds were used to purchase 75 tickets to a New York Mets baseball game held at CitiField on Sunday, September 14th.  To make the trip to the game more enjoyable, we chartered a bus to transport the majority of the ticket holders from our main office in Hawthorne straight down to CitiField. Everyone enjoyed the game even though the Mets lost! Arc of Westchester plans to use the funds in the same fashion this year.

We are extremely grateful to NYSARC Trusts for making this possible!

In addition, remainder fund grants totally $1,660,500 were awarded to support NYSARC guardianship programs statewide.  A total of $2,207,880 in remainder grants were awarded in 2014 to support recreation and guardianship statewide.  NYSARC Trust Services administers supplemental needs trusts that enable people with disabilities to remain in their home and community while retaining Medicaid services and other government benefits.   Information is available on how NYSARC Trust Services may benefit you:  our website, phone 1-518-439-8323, toll free phone 1-800-735-8924 or e-mail mailto:[email protected]
