For Cognition & Learning
“For people without disabilities, technology can make things easier, but for people with cognitive disabilities, technology makes things possible.”
Since 2014, the staff of Arc of Westchester have been collaborating with the faculty and students from Mercy College to develop solutions, often using everyday technology, such as tablets, smartphones and apps, to address some of the daily living needs of the people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, including autism, that we support. Our goal is to provide resources, through low and high tech solutions, to increase their functional independence and inclusion in community life.
Arc of Westchester is honored to be working with the Coleman Institute for Cognitive Disabilities to make this happen. Since 2014, they have been promoting their Declaration for “The Rights of People with Cognitive Disabilities to Technology and Information Access."
